Artists Bio:

After a career as a photo-illustrator, I moved on to watercolors. Grounded in photographic pictorialism, I moved on to interpreting with watercolors. I paint almost daily, both on location and from my photos. The wisdom of my grandson is always in mind, "Grampa Bruce, it's a painting; you can do anything."

I minored in art at the University of Maine, and have taken watercolor workshops with Susan Abbott, David Dewey, and Dewitt Hardy. In addition to being a signature member of the Vermont Watercolor Society, I'm a member in Art Guild of the Kennebunks, and the Plein Air Painters of Maine.

I've painted commissions including a commission for the 2018 USA Olympic Curling Team. Watercolor Honors and Awards: Honorable Mention, Castine (Maine) Plein Air Festival, 2019. Show Poster, Kennebunk River Club, 2019. Best in Show, Port Clyde (Maine) Art Gallery Invitational 10 x 10 Show, 2018. Works in private collections: US, Canada, Hong Kong, Iceland and Switzerland. Works in Museums: Brick Store Museum, Kennebunk, Maine. Exhibitions 2013-2019 in Maine and Vermont: Solo (2), Group (8), and Juried Group (13).

Annually, I use my art for a watercolor calendar for friends. I'm also fortunate to have had a successful career in children's books, more than 45 written and illustrated with my photography, garnering numerous honors and awards.
